Job Description

NBCUniversal's Network Engineering group within the Operations & Technology organization has an opening for a Staff Network Engineer based at our NBC Sports facility in Stamford, CT.

The Staff Network Engineer will work within a dedicated team of network engineers tasked with building reliable and scalable network infrastructure for NBCUniversal's Sports broadcast and media production facilities. The selected candidate will provide subject matter expertise on IP-based networking and support critical escalated incidents related to NBC Sports production events.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Installation and configuration experience on network technology from multiple vendors including Cisco (IOS, NX-OS, XR), Palo Alto, and F5.
  • Hands-on experience implementing firewall policy on Palo Alto (Panorama).
  • Advanced understanding of network routing and associated protocols/technology (OSPF, QoS, Multicast, BGP, L3VPN, IPSEC) with ability to configure, deploy, and support.
  • Experience with L2 and L3 network infrastructure design for large Enterprise networks.
  • Participate in operational on-call rotation for support of 24x7 production on-air network infrastructure.
  • Ability to develop and maintain technical documentation and diagrams.
  • Occasional travel for project and remote event support; sometimes for extended periods of time.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Ability to analyze network logging and other data sets to troubleshoot and isolate production and design problems.
  • Understanding of major broadcast vendors and how their technology is deployed in IP networks to support graphics, transcoding, playout, and master control.
  • Experience deploying and supporting hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure) with emphasis on network interconnect and security.
  • Experience with network automation and version control tools such as Ansible and Git to deploy networks at scale.
