Description: Our client is currently seeking a Data Governance Manager! This is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity and will be HYBRID, 3 days onsite.

As a Data Governance Manager, you will lead the development and implementation of the enterprise-wide data governance strategy. You will ensure data is treated as a strategic asset by establishing policies, standards, and processes that promote data quality, consistency, and compliance. This role requires close collaboration with senior leadership, IT, compliance, and business units to align governance practices with regulatory requirements and strategic objectives.

As a Data Governance Manager, you will lead the development and implementation of the enterprise-wide data governance strategy. You will ensure data is treated as a strategic asset by establishing policies, standards, and processes that promote data quality, consistency, and compliance. This role requires close collaboration with senior leadership, IT, compliance, and business units to align governance practices with regulatory requirements and strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
Data Governance Framework & Strategy
- Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance strategy aligned with business and regulatory goals.
- Establish and maintain enterprise-wide data governance policies, standards, and best practices.
- Lead the creation and enhancement of metadata management, data dictionaries, and data catalogs.
- Chair the Data Governance Committee and drive executive sponsorship and organizational alignment.
- Partner with Data Stewards, IT, Compliance, Risk, and business units to ensure consistent governance practices.
- Promote a data-driven culture that values high-quality, reliable data.
- Lead data quality initiatives, define critical data elements, and establish quality benchmarks.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and regulatory standards.
- Manage audits and report on governance effectiveness and compliance metrics.
- Design and deliver training programs to build data governance awareness and accountability.
- Drive change management initiatives to embed governance into operational workflows.
- Champion data literacy across the organization.
- Define and monitor KPIs to measure the effectiveness of data governance initiatives.
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership on progress, challenges, and outcomes.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or analytics, preferably in banking or financial services.
- Deep understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks relevant to financial institutions.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence senior stakeholders.
- Experience with data governance tools such as Alation, Microsoft Purview, or Informatica.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Certification in data governance or management (e.g., DCAM, DMBOK).
