Location: San Jose, CA
Salary: $75.00 USD Hourly - $90.00 USD Hourly
Description: Our client is currently seeking a Data Engineer I
Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Analyst/Engineer with strong Python expertise and a passion for machine learning and open-source collaboration. The ideal candidate will have experience in scripting for analysis, working with code notebooks, and training public domain models. A PhD is strongly preferred.
Top 3 Skills Required:
  1. Python Programming (2-3 years minimum):
    • Strong hands-on experience with Python for data analysis and engineering tasks.
    • Ability to write clean, efficient, and scalable code.
  2. Scripting & ML Infrastructure:
    • Expertise in automated/manual scripting for reporting and analysis.
    • Experience with Jupyter notebooks and integrating machine learning into infrastructure workflows.
  3. Open-Source Collaboration & Model Training:
    • Proven ability to run collaborative projects.
    • Experience with public domain models and training open-source models (e.g., Gemma).
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's or higher in Computer Science or related field. PhD strongly preferred.
  • Experience: 0-3 years in Python programming, ML/AI, and prompt engineering.
  • Language Skills: Advanced proficiency in English writing and communication.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Python (mandatory)
    • Machine Learning / AI frameworks
    • Prompt engineering for GenAI
    • Familiarity with open-source model training and deployment

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaborative environments.
  • Passion for innovation and open-source contributions.
