Mid-Level CMF (Color, Material, Finish) Designer
We re seeking a talented and detail-oriented Mid-Level CMF Designer to help shape the aesthetic and sensory experience of future-forward hardware products. This role is part of a cross-functional team of researchers, industrial designers, product managers, and engineers, all working together to deliver thoughtful, high-quality design solutions that bridge technology and user experience. In this role, you ll directly contribute to the design process by supporting CMF strategy, documentation, material exploration, and prototype execution across multiple product development phases.

Scope:
Manage color review documentation and feedback cycles; maintain organized records of master, pass, and rejection samples.
Facilitate material testing workflows by preparing test samples, coordinating with engineering and reliability teams, and tracking outcomes to guide design choices.
Actively research and present advanced CMF technologies, finishes, and material innovations.
Support the development of compelling CMF proposals, including mood boards, renderings, physical samples, and design schematics.
Collaborate with the Industrial Design team and external vendors/model shops to support prototype builds that accurately reflect CMF intent.
Curate and manage the CMF material library, ensuring access to relevant and up-to-date samples for the design team.

Required:
3 5 years of experience in art, design, industrial design, or a related field; material engineering experience is a strong plus.
Expert-level proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.); experience with VRED or similar 3D rendering tools is a plus.
Excellent color perception and sensitivity to detail; a score of 4 or below on the Farnsworth Munsell 100 Hue Test is preferred.
Highly organized with a strong attention to detail and ability to manage documentation and sample logistics.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, iterative environment, with a track record of integrating feedback and contributing to high-quality design execution.


Estimated Min Rate: $40.00
Estimated Max Rate: $50.00
