Job Description Summary Software Engineer (VSSE Vehicle Cybersecurity Access)
The Vehicle Software Systems Engineering (VSSE) team within the Systems Engineering Product Driven Organization supports Product Development by delivering key software solutions. One of its critical applications Vehicle Cybersecurity Access manages the full lifecycle of security keys and digital certificates used by manufacturing plants, suppliers, Ford Customer Service, and diagnostic engineers to securely unlock and update vehicle ECUs.
This application is vital from a cybersecurity standpoint and prevents costly production stop-ships.
VSSE is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer who embraces Lean, Agile, Pair Programming, and Extreme Programming (XP) practices, working within small, cross-functional teams based in Dearborn, MI.
Required Skills & Experience
- 7+ years of professional experience developing web applications using object-oriented development in technologies such as:
- Angular (preferred), TypeScript, React, JavaScript
- Spring Boot
- 5+ years of hands-on Agile experience (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, TDD, etc.)
- Strong experience with:
- Microservices architecture
- REST APIs, SOAP/WSDL/XML/SOA
- Object-oriented development experience applying Java enterprise concepts:
- Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Spring JDBC, Spring Cloud
- Proficiency with:
- Automated testing, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or similar)
- SQL/PostgreSQL (table design, creation, modification)
- Front-end frameworks (Angular/React)
- Testing tools (Karma, Jasmine, JUnit)
Experience in Cybersecurity or the Automotive industry is a major plus
Expert-level understanding of software engineering and OO design principles
- Experience in Extreme Programming (XP): pair programming, TDD
- Conducting code reviews and optimizing for multiple delivery platforms (mobile vs desktop)
- Strong communication, collaboration, and self-motivation
Education
- Required: Bachelor s Degree
- Preferred: Master s Degree
Additional Information
- Hybrid role: Expected 4 days onsite per week, with possibility of increase.
