RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Director, Intellectual Property - Legal Department for a hybrid role in NYC.

Summary:
We are seeking a seasoned intellectual property attorney to lead the development of a new in-house IP function for a prestigious luxury brand. This newly created role offers a unique opportunity to shape and build a comprehensive intellectual property strategy from the ground up. Based at our office in Midtown Manhattan, this hybrid position requires a minimum of four days per week on-site.

Key Responsibilities:
* Establish and lead a new in-house intellectual property practice, including hiring and managing a support team
* Collaborate with the General Counsel and executive leadership to develop and implement a robust IP strategy that protects and maximizes the value of the company's assets
* Ensure alignment of U.S. IP strategy with global brand vision while remaining innovative and responsive to the U.S. market
* Oversee trademark protection, prosecution, clearance searches, and litigation matters
* Conduct regular audits to assess strengths, weaknesses, and risks in the IP portfolio
* Provide strategic guidance to internal teams and external counsel on IP matters
* Promote best practices and leverage current technologies to enhance IP protection
* Support and mentor legal team members, including paralegals, to ensure effective execution of IP initiatives

REQUIREMENTS:
* Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
* Active Bar membership
* 10-20 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in-house within the luxury or consumer goods sector
* Deep expertise in trademark law, prosecution, and enforcement in the US
* Strong understanding of legal issues relevant to the luxury industry
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and cloud-based document management systems
* Strong project and time management skills, with meticulous attention to detail
* Proven ability to lead, influence, and collaborate across cross-functional teams

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
