Amida Technology Solutions is seeking an Oracle Database Administrator. This role will report to the CTO. If you want to help public agencies, non-profits, and companies get their data right, we look forward to hearing from you.

The Oracle Goldengate Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, administration, and support of Oracle Goldengate environments. The role involves ensuring the reliability, performance, and availability of Goldengate processes, monitoring and troubleshooting data replication issues, and implementing best practices for data replication and integration solutions. The administrator will work closely with database administrators, application teams, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless data flow across multiple systems.

What you will do:

  • Installation and Configuration:
    • Install and configure Oracle Goldengate software on various platforms (Unix, Linux, Windows)
    • Set up and configure Goldengate processes (Extract, Replicat, Pump, etc.) for different data replication scenarios
  • Administration and Maintenance:
    • Administer and maintain Oracle Goldengate environments, ensuring they are running efficiently and securely
    • Monitor Goldengate processes and resolve any issues that arise, including performance tuning and troubleshooting
    • Manage and maintain Goldengate configurations, including parameter files, trail files, and checkpoints
  • Data Replication:
    • Design and implement data replication strategies using Oracle Goldengate, including real-time data replication, bi-directional replication, and data integration
    • Ensure data consistency and integrity across source and target databases
    • Perform schema changes and data migrations using Goldengate
  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
    • Set up monitoring tools and scripts to continuously monitor Goldengate processes and data flows
    • Analyze and troubleshoot Goldengate-related issues, including lag, data conflicts, and replication errors
    • Work on root cause analysis for Goldengate-related incidents and implement corrective actions
  • Performance Tuning:
    • Optimize Goldengate performance by tuning parameter settings, managing trail files, and ensuring efficient resource utilization
    • Collaborate with DBAs to ensure the overall performance of the database systems involved in replication
  • Security and Compliance:
    • Implement security best practices for Goldengate environments, including access controls, encryption, and auditing
    • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry regulations regarding data replication and integration
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Create and maintain detailed documentation for Goldengate configurations, processes, and procedures
    • Generate reports on replication status, performance metrics, and incident resolutions
  • Collaboration and Support:
    • Work closely with application developers, DBAs, and infrastructure teams to design and implement effective data replication solutions
    • Provide technical support and expertise to project teams and end-users regarding Goldengate-related issues
  • Upgrades and Patching:
    • Plan and execute upgrades and patching of Oracle Goldengate environments
    • Ensure minimal downtime and disruption during upgrades and maintenance activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Education: BA/BS in a related technical field; or the equivalent in education and work experience

Required Experience:

  • 8-10 years of experience as a core DBA with Standby and Goldengate
  • Hands on work experience as a core Oracle DBA doing activities such as database upgrade, patching, tuning etc.
  • Experience also shall include the capability to work on various operating systems and additional programming languages.
  • Has experience in at least two projects in a large organization responsible for administering, operating, maintaining, and securing a large-scale computer database.

Required Skills:

  • Expert with enterprise Oracle database software and application products
  • Experience in analyzing existing SQL Server and Azure SQL Database and Oracle Database in Azure/AWS Cloud Environments and workloads.
  • Ability to design new or complementary solutions for transformed environments, implements solutions, and troubleshoots any residual issues after transformation.

Preferred Skills:

  • Exposure to supporting GoldenGate Replication Setup across different releases of Oracle Database and different releases of GoldenGate.
