You will work on low to moderately complex projects involving mainframe systems, integration tools, and modern development practices. About the Role
As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of technology solutions that support critical business operations. You will work on low to moderately complex projects involving mainframe systems, integration tools, and modern development practices. This role requires a strong foundation in COBOL, Java, and enterprise integration technologies, along with a collaborative mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and deployment of software solutions, including installation, upgrades, and maintenance of mainframe and integration systems.
- Design, code, test, debug, and document software components for low to moderately complex projects.
- Analyze technical challenges, evaluate alternatives, and recommend solutions to improve service quality and system availability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure solutions meet business and compliance requirements.
- Participate in code reviews and provide technical guidance to peers.
- Support incident resolution and escalate issues as needed to meet service level agreements.
- Maintain documentation and share knowledge with internal teams and stakeholders.
- 4+ years of software engineering experience or equivalent (e.g., military, education, or training).
- Proficiency in COBOL programming and mainframe environments.
- Basic understanding of Assembler.
- Experience with Java, SQL, and Eclipse IDE.
- Familiarity with XML/XSD and schema design.
- Experience using GitHub for version control.
- Experience with EZTRIEVE and REXX scripting.
- Knowledge of DB2, VSAM, CICS, JCL, PROC, Endeavor, CA7, and MQ.
- Prior experience in the banking or financial services industry.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools like ServiceNow.
- Experience with IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE), including message flow development and nodes such as MQ, Compute, and Kafka.
- Proficiency in ESQL and queue browsing tools like IR360.
- Understanding of COBOL/JSON message formatting.
