responsibilities:
The Head of IT is responsible for managing the company's technology platform. This includes hardware, software, servers and networks. The IT Director will work closely with company's contracted Managed Service Provider (MSP), which provides oversight, monitoring and support for company servers, networks, and cybersecurity. The IT Director also oversees desktop support, external vendors, and supports IT initiatives. The Head of IT also has general management
responsibilities, consistent with leading an IT function.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee and work with Managed Service Provider (MSP): servers, networks, cybersecurity, data and back-up recovery capabilities
- Manage all hardware and software - selection, implementation
- Manage hardware lifecycle
- Manage external developers supporting company applications
- Support technology initiatives and projects
- Manage external vendors - telecoms, cabling
- Perform cybersecurity penetration testing
- Oversee help desk activities; provide back up support when needed
- Set technology policies and standards - e.g., BYOD, User desktop, password management, data loss prevention
- Maintain asset inventory and software listing
- Maintain all IT contracts and agreements
- Develop and maintain network topology and infrastructure architecture diagrams
- Create/manage annual budgets and capital investment plans
- Manage one desktop support staff
Education and/or Work Experience and Other Requirements:
- Bachelors degree, preferably in computer science or a related discipline
- Understanding of technology infrastructure - servers, networks
- Experience leading the selection of applications, working with Users, and implementing new systems (SDLC)
- Experience managing IT vendors
- Understanding of IT risks and mitigation techniques including cybersecurity and data loss
- Skilled in IT management - IT documentation, budget management
