Job Description:
UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking a talented and highly motivated, part-time Cybersecurity Risk Analyst Intern to join the UF Information Security Office (ISO), a unit within UFIT, for the Fall 2025 (and possibly Spring/Summer 2026) semesters. This internship position supports the Information Assurance (IA) and Integrated Risk Management (IRM) teams within ISO, responsible for conducting technology risk assessments on university projects to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of university data. The intern will assist with evaluating and following up on open risk assessment projects, categorizations, re-assessments, and remediation plans.

Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:

  • Triage and prioritize risk project requests based on data types and classifications.
  • Shadow risk analysts to gain hands-on experience with risk assessment processes, including categorization review, security survey processing, and risk re-assessments.
  • Coordinate with vendors to gather information on security controls, documentation, and compliance, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Support various projects related to risk assessments, security asset management, and compliance within ISO's GRC tool.

  • Understand the significance of Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability in maintaining the security and reliability of enterprise systems.
  • Distinguish between different data types and classifications.
  • Recognize the importance of enterprise alignment with software and device purchases
  • Develop risk assessment skills to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities before and after an incident, and learn to mitigate them effectively.
  • Demonstrate cultural competence and professionalism by interacting respectfully and inclusively with diverse stakeholders and colleagues, and promoting a positive and respectful work environment.
  • Cultivate effective work habits, including time management, punctuality, and personal accountability, to contribute to the success of an organization.
  • Establish and achieve performance objectives, mutually agreed upon by the employer, the UFIT experiential learning supervisor, and the intern, to ensure a meaningful and productive internship experience.
