Our New Teammate
Our new teammate will be supporting a Maryland government program in the role of Senior Network Engineer. This program supports a state government-owned MPLS-based service provider network supporting ISP, L3VPN, and EV-based services. The network is a mixture of Optical (Coherent DWDM), MPLS, leased circuits, Metro Ethernet, and SD-WAN technologies. The network supports State/Local government as well as educational subscribers operating over a mixture of fiber optic and leased telecommunications services
You will be responsible for designing, maintaining, implementing, and troubleshooting our clients' networks. You will work in a collaborative environment to provide cutting-edge solutions and customer service.
You can expect to spend your time accomplishing the following:
- 85% of time on Objective 1: Completing customer projects and solutions
- 10% of time on Objective 2: Prioritization, planning, and scheduling
- 5% of time on Objective 3: Professional growth and development
Job Responsibilities - What to Expect
- Design and implement network projects, including:
- Installation of new equipment as part of a new deployment, network augmentation, network expansion, and/or equipment refresh.
- Perform site surveys for future wired and wireless LAN network deployments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network-related trouble tickets.
- Evaluate new technologies and/or features and their associated value to the program.
- Support operational problem reports through network augmentation
- Serve as a technical escalation point.
- Develop/peer review work order scope documentation detailing potential projects and their associated costs
- Create and maintain technical and process documentation.
- Coordinate with internal and external partners as part of overall project delivery efforts.
- Provide written status updates to project management for assigned project-related tasks.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure-related hardware or network connectivity issues.
- Perform testing and validation of new hardware and code.
- Lead the design, test, and implementation of network proposals.
- Provide consultation support to internal and external partners for network infrastructure design and enhancements.
Your Knowledge & Expertise
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or an engineering-related field (Preferred)
- 10 years of experience in a computer-related field.
- JNCIP or CCNP (Required)
- JNCIE or CCIE (Service Provider Preferred)
- ITIL 4 Foundation (Preferred)
- Experience in production network environments.
- Experience in the configuration and deployment of Cisco, Juniper, and Aruba switches, routers, and wireless access points.
- Experience with the design, troubleshooting, and configuration of network protocols such as BGP, OSPF, TCP/IP, MPLS, and Spanning Tree.
- Experience with leading the design and delivery of network projects.
- Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
- Experience with the creation and maintenance of documentation such as operating procedures and network diagrams.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong time, priority, and task management skills.
- Familiarity with enterprise and user networks is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple assigned tasks concurrently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Python and Ansible experience is a plus.
- Previous experience with Metro Ethernet networks and infrastructure is a plus.
**Work Environment: This position is a Hybrid role with onsite requirements. Candidates must be in Maryland to fulfill these requirements.**
