The Enterprise IT Monitoring Architect is responsible for the detailed technical design of real-time monitoring, alerting, and reporting of the enterprise infrastructure (Network, Servers, Storage, Databases, etc.) and applications used by SWIFT. The individual will work with enterprise infrastructure and application engineers and operations to ensure the continual improvement of both the scope and quality of all monitoring solutions. The architect fulfils a key role in the delivery of monitoring related services critical to both user experience and efficient effective event management. This role will be a member of multi-functional teams responsible for delivering new technologies, services, and applications. The Enterprise Monitoring Architect will be accountable to define standards and patterns for monitoring technical domain and the creation, maintenance and achievement of roadmaps and technical designs as they pertain to monitoring of IT services all of which is communicated and shared across the entire IT organization.

What to expect in this role:

In this role you will:
  • Provide input to the scope definition of strategic initiatives leveraging roadmaps, capability heatmaps, etc. to give visibility to impacts, dependencies, overlaps, and improvement opportunities, for on premise and cloud monitoring solutions spanning toolsets
  • Contribute to the architecture review process by creating validation checklists, reviewing architectural artifacts, and providing domain specific guidance to drive architectural alignment across the enterprise
  • Define, communicate, and document the architecture patterns, standards, and technologies
  • Analyze enterprise business context (e.g., trends and business strategy) and change requirements in other architecture viewpoints to derive the solution architecture 'future' state
  • Apply architectural and engineering concepts to design solutions that meet operational requirements, such as scalability, maintainability, security, reliability, extensibility, flexibility, availability, and manageability
  • Research, enforce, and drive the adoption of design patterns throughout the enterprise and deliver best practices for solution design and development
  • Foster and maintain good relationships with colleagues to meet expected customer service levels
  • Build detailed technical designs related to monitoring as a part of complex projects
  • Build and maintain 2-year technical domain road map that aligns with the technical direction of the organization and company. Collaborate with other technical architects to integrate and align all technical roadmaps. Present technical roadmaps to senior IT leadership.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed

  • University degree in IT/Engineering/Science
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience, 5 years in architecture of global approaches and solutions

  • Ability to estimate the financial impact of individual solution architecture alternatives (scenario planning)

  • Ability to implement technical strategies and design solutions to meet that strategy

  • Ability to challenge conventional wisdom regarding technology refresh and hype
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills with business and technical groups
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong project management and organization skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus among many stakeholders
  • Ability to be comfortable with ambiguity and willing to take principled bets on new technology
  • Ability to establish, implement, and enforce appropriate IT standards to meet business requirements

The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position in Virginia is $121,564.00 USD Annual MINIMUM to $225,762.00 USD Annual MAXIMUM. Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Our compensation packages include a competitive base salary and bonus opportunity for all employee's contingent on personal and company performance.
