ASSYST is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our State client's agile development team in Austin, TX.
This role is central to the design, development, and implementation (DD&I) of a critical data integration hub for the client. The ideal candidate will be an expert in Informatica and SQL, with a strong background in data warehousing, system analysis, and agile methodologies. You will be responsible for the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), from validating requirements and creating user stories to developing, testing, and deploying robust data solutions.

Job Location: Austin, TX. (Hybrid)
Please Note: Position will be 3 days remote with 2 days (Mondays and Wednesdays) required to be onsite at Austin, TX. Program will only accept LOCAL candidates for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation and configuration of the infrastructure for the data integration hub.
- Develop ETL mappings and workflows using Informatica (IICS, IDMC, or Power Center) to automate data acquisition from a wide variety of sources, including Snowflake, Oracle, SQL Server, Excel, and Adobe PDF.
- Design, develop, and optimize complex SQL scripts to transform source data into a dimensional model, creating views and materialized views in Oracle.
- Enhance and maintain the Java-based web application that provides Tableau dashboards to internal and external users.
- Assist with the implementation and configuration of development tools.
- Operate as a key member of an agile sprint team, actively participating in all ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives).
- Contribute to the creation and management of Epics, User Stories, and Tasks within JIRA.
- Collaborate closely with System Architects and the Data Engineering Team on implementation designs and data acquisition strategies.
- Work with customers and stakeholders to develop mockups, validate requirements, and interpret new or changing business needs.
- Partner with other team members to address and resolve technical problems efficiently.
- Conduct comprehensive testing, including integration, load, and stress tests, to ensure solution performance and reliability.
- Develop automated processes for the verification and validation of SQL scripts, Informatica automation, and database views.
- Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including specifications, diagrams, and data models using tools like Visio or Erwin.
- Provide ongoing operations support and lead enhancement initiatives for the data integration hub.
Requirements:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of required experience developing mappings and workflows to automate ETL processes using Informatica IICS, IDMC, or Power Center.
- 8+ years of required experience acquiring and integrating data from multiple sources (e.g., Snowflake, Oracle, SQL Server, Excel, Access, Adobe PDF) for use in Tableau.
- 8+ years of required experience designing and developing complex, high-performance SQL scripts.
- 8+ years of required experience as a System Analyst for a data analytics, performance management, or data warehousing project.
- 8+ years of required experience with technical writing, diagraming, and modeling tools (e.g., Visio, Erwin, MS Office Suite).
- 8+ years of required experience in planning and delivering software platforms for use across multiple products and organizational units.
- 8+ years of required experience developing scripts using Python.
- 8+ years of required experience working on an agile sprint team.
- 8+ years of required experience using JIRA software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience writing well-designed, testable, and efficient code following best practices.
- 4+ years of experience with state-of-the-art software components for BI or data visualization environments.
- 4+ years of experience understanding security principles as they apply to healthcare data.
- Proven ability to self-manage responsibilities, prioritize assignments, and adapt to changing tasks.
- 3+ years of prior experience in the Healthcare Industry.
- 2+ years of prior experience with an HHS agency and working with PII or PHI data.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with web application development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, APIs).
- 2+ years of experience creating website/user interfaces and working with web services (REST, SOAP).
- 2+ years of experience developing dashboards and reports using Tableau.
