Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Data Engineering to lead the design, development, and optimization of our enterprise data infrastructure with a particular focus on financial systems and risk/compliance requirements. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in data engineering, data architecture, and governance frameworks, with a proven track record of working within heavily regulated industries such as banking, financial services, or fintech.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead the strategic design and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance data platforms, pipelines, and data lakes/warehouses.
Architect and maintain robust data models supporting financial reporting, risk analytics, compliance monitoring, and regulatory filings (e.g., SOX, Basel, CCAR, AML).
Partner with finance, audit, compliance, and risk teams to understand business needs and ensure data solutions meet internal policies and external regulatory standards.
Build and manage a high-performing team of data engineers, architects, and platform specialists.
Define and enforce data quality, lineage, and governance standards, including metadata management and master data management (MDM).
Oversee data ingestion and transformation processes from internal systems (ERP, CRM) and third-party financial or market data providers.
Ensure best practices for data security, privacy, and compliance, including alignment with GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant frameworks.
Collaborate cross-functionally with analytics, BI, finance, legal, and IT to drive data-driven decision-making and insights.
Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in data engineering, cloud computing, and regulatory tech (RegTech).

Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
10+ years of experience in data engineering or data architecture, with at least 3 years in a leadership or director-level role.
Proven experience in financial services, banking, fintech, or insurance, with knowledge of financial instruments, regulatory compliance, and risk reporting.
Expert in modern data technologies: Spark, Kafka, Snowflake, Databricks, DBT, Airflow, etc.
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
Strong understanding of data governance, security, access controls, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, SOX, BCBS 239).
Proficient in programming and scripting languages: Python, SQL, Scala, etc.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
