Our Challenge:

We are seeking an experienced Lead Java and Python Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in software development with expertise in both Java and Python, along with experience in working with Large Language Models (LLMs). This role involves designing and developing innovative solutions, leading a team of developers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance our applications and services.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors.

In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $110K-$120K /year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: Lead a team of developers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure high-quality deliverables and adherence to best practices.
  • Application Development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications using Java and Python that leverage LLMs for various use cases, such as natural language processing, chatbots, and automated content generation.
  • Architectural Design: Collaborate with architects and stakeholders to define system architecture and design patterns that optimize performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • LLM Integration: Implement and optimize LLMs into existing applications, ensuring seamless integration and performance. Stay updated with the latest advancements in LLM technologies and frameworks.
  • Code Quality: Establish and enforce coding standards, conduct code reviews, and ensure that the team follows best practices for software development and testing.
  • Project Management: Collaborate with project managers to define project scope, timelines, and deliverables. Assist in planning and scheduling development activities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, product managers, and UX/UI designers to understand requirements and deliver solutions that meet business objectives.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor application performance and conduct troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues promptly.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation related to system architecture, APIs, and development processes.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. A Master s degree is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a lead or senior role. Strong experience in both Java and Python development.
  • LLM Knowledge: Experience working with Large Language Models, including frameworks like Hugging Face Transformers, OpenAI GPT, or similar technologies.
  • Java Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Java, including experience with frameworks such as Spring or Hibernate.
  • Python Proficiency: Extensive experience in Python, including familiarity with libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, or similar data processing frameworks.
  • API Development: Proficiency in designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
  • Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile development practices and experience in Agile environments.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and guide team members.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to various stakeholders.

Preferred, but not required

  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and deployment of machine learning models.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git).
  • Familiarity with data engineering concepts and ETL processes.
