Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Our client is a series B unicorn start-up in NYC that is looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join their growing engineering team and help shape their foundational technology. In this role, you'll take ownership of building scalable infrastructure and internal tooling that ensures the performance, reliability, and security of our systems. Your work will empower the broader product development team to move quickly and confidently. This is a high-impact opportunity to influence the direction of platform engineering from the ground up. Key Responsibilities

• Work cross-functionally with engineering and product teams to define technical requirements and develop solutions that support long-term scalability
• Build and maintain core infrastructure, developer tooling, and automation workflows with a strong emphasis on reliability and security
• Champion site reliability engineering (SRE) practices and collaborate with backend teams to ensure systems meet operational goals
• Develop internal tooling and frameworks to support deployment, production readiness, observability, and incident response
• Manage and optimize infrastructure across multiple regions
• Participate in on-call rotations to support infrastructure and core services

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering roles
• Proven expertise in building and maintaining reliable systems, including monitoring, alerting, and performance tuning
• Strong grasp of distributed system architecture and how to build for resiliency and fault tolerance
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, especially using Terraform
• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration
• Solid experience working with cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform preferred)
• Comfort troubleshooting live production systems and improving CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
• Pragmatic problem-solver with the ability to deliver value iteratively while maintaining a high standard of technical quality
• Quick learner with a passion for adapting to new technologies and solving novel problems
• Prior experience in early-stage or fast-paced environments is a plus
• Willingness to participate in post-incident reviews and help build more robust systems through shared learning
