Job Description

DESCRIPTION:

Duties: Design, develop and implement software solutions. Solve business problems through innovation and engineering practices. Participate in all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including analyzing requirements, incorporating architectural standards into application design specifications, documenting application specifications, translating technical requirements into programmed application modules, and developing or enhancing software application modules. Identify or troubleshoot application code-related issues. Take active role in code reviews to ensure solutions are aligned to pre-defined architectural specifications. Assist with design reviews by recommending ways to incorporate requirements into designs and information or data flows. Participate in project planning sessions with project managers, business analysts, and team members to analyze business requirements and outline proposed solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field of study plus five (5) years of experience in the job offered or as Software Engineer, Full Stack Developer, Data Scientist, Web Developer, or related occupation. The employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field of study plus seven (7) years of experience in the job offered or as Software Engineer, Full Stack Developer, Data Scientist, Web Developer, or related occupation.

Skills Required: This position requires experience with the following: Agile SDLC, including scrum planning, kanban, backlog management and user story mapping; back-end Java and J2EE programming languages, including multi-threading, concurrency, object-oriented programming, and functional programming; SQL and NoSQL data stores, including MySQL, Oracle, and MongoDB; Database performance tuning and scaling; Database change management tools, including Liquibase and Flyway; Microservices; REST-based API services using Spring Boot, Spring Data JPA, Hibernate, and Java Application Server including Apache Tomcat; Unit testing tools including JUnit; BDD testing using Mockito; Implementing responsive web, mobile and cross-browser user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; JavaScript frameworks, including ReactJS and Angular; UI automated testing using Cucumber; Web application testing using Selenium; Functional testing; Regression testing; Cross-browser testing; Front-end development tools such as Webpack; Developing Back-end applications using Node.js; Creating and managing GraphQL APIs; Front-end object relational mapping tools, including Sequelize; Blackbox testing; Performance testing; Systems integration testing of APIs using Apache JMeter and Postman; Processing and analyzing usage logs using Python; Monitoring application metrics using Splunk, Kibana, and Grafana; Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) tools, including Jenkins; Release workflows, pipelines, runbooks and support automation, pipeline and containerization using Python, shell scripting, and Groovy; Developing scalable applications using containerization tools, including Docker; Using, maintaining and troubleshooting build tools, including Gradle and Apache Maven; Data serialization, messaging protocols, and formatting languages, including JSON, YML, and XML; Source Control systems, including Git, GitHub, and Gitflow; Trunk-based workflows, rebasing and resolving merge conflicts; Linux OS, including access commands, file management, and system administration.
