Core Mission
Lead a 30+ person engineering organization to accelerate customer value realization through personalized, AI-driven onboarding experiences that demonstrate Mailchimp s impact on business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Talent Development
- Mentor 5-8 frontline managers (each leading 7-12 engineers) and senior technical leaders.
- Define career paths and growth opportunities for high-performing ICs and managers.
- Technical & Cultural Strategy
- Establish engineering practices/tooling for high-velocity delivery of scalable, resilient systems.
- Foster a culture where engineers "do the best work of their lives."
- Customer & Business Impact
- Own success metrics for onboarding initiatives driving customer benefits (e.g., faster time-to-value) and business outcomes (e.g., retention).
- Spearhead next-gen Automations & Campaign Management platforms.
- Cross-Functional Execution
- Partner closely with Product, Design, and Marketing leaders to prioritize innovation.
- Navigate constraints (e.g., resources, timelines) with solution-oriented proposals.
Non-Negotiable Qualifications
- Technical Depth: 10+ years hands-on software development (high-scale systems, operational excellence).
- Leadership Experience: 5+ years managing managers + delivering customer-driven products (data/AI, full-stack).
- Operational Rigor: Proven track record in high-availability environments with bias for engineering excellence.
- Collaborative Mindset: Skilled in bridging Product/Design/Marketing to drive alignment.
- Leadership Traits:
- Resilient in ambiguity; balances planning with bias for action.
- Humble yet courageous in advocating for ideas.
- Proactively unblocks teams and optimizes org structures.
