Gonzalez Companies is a partner managed firm that provides comprehensive Planning, Design, and Construction Management Services to large and small Water, Sewer and Utility Districts; Departments of Transportation; and municipalities. We are currently seeking a Documentation Engineer to help serve our connection of clients and community. The Documentation Engineer will play a pivotal role in creating, managing and maintaining technical documentation to support infrastructure projects, systems and processes, as well as ensure construction contractor is performing the work in accordance with project plans and specifications in accordance with construction industry standards.

Your Primary Responsibilities will include
- Develop and maintain technical documents, including engineering reports, project proposals, operation manuals, and specifications for transportation projects.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to gather detailed and accurate information for documentation.
- Ensure all documentation aligns with federal, state and local transportation regulations and guidelines.
- Organize and maintain a comprehensive document repository using document management systems.
- Identify opportunities to improve the department's documentation workflows and implement best practices.
- Serve as a liaison between technical teams, legal departments, and public relations to ensure documentation meets diverse needs.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in Construction Managment and/or public works management
- Ability to travel throughout Chicago area
- Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills
- Knowledge in the area of Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA), Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) and soils training
- Current IDOT Construction Documentation certificate required
