Job Description
As a Sr. Test Technician, you will play a critical role in bringing cutting-edge electronic signage systems from design concept to market-ready products. Your day-to-day work will involve setting up and testing engineering designs for large electronic and mechanical signs, gathering hardware components, wiring PCBAs and systems together, and loading software components to create fully functional signage systems. You will have direct impact on ensuring the reliability and performance of LED and motor-controlled message signs that serve critical infrastructure applications across highways and gas stations nationwide.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Set up and execute comprehensive testing procedures for electronic and mechanical sign designs
  • Wire PCBAs and components together to build complete signage systems according to engineering specifications
  • Load and configure software components for embedded systems and microcontrollers
  • Conduct systematic testing of LED and motor-controlled message signage systems
  • Document test results and prepare detailed technical reports for engineering review
  • Troubleshoot electrical and electronic failures to the PCBA level using advanced lab equipment
  • Create and maintain test plans and technical documentation for various product lines
  • Validate products against industry standards and company specifications
  • Program and set up LabView systems for PCBA testing procedures
  • Generate temperature and humidity test protocols for thermal chamber validation
  • Perform photometric analysis and environmental controls testing
  • Utilize serial communication protocols including RS232, RS485, Ethernet, SPI, and I2C
  • Work simultaneously on multiple projects while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines

Required Experience/Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field
  • 3-5 years of hands-on PCB testing and validation experience (critical requirement)
  • Strong ability to read and interpret schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Proficiency with lab equipment including logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and multimeters
  • Experience with embedded systems and microcontroller programming
  • Knowledge of serial communication protocols (RS232, RS485, Ethernet, SPI, I2C)
  • Technical report writing and documentation skills
  • Experience creating test plans and validation procedures
  • LabView programming experience for automated testing
  • Understanding of thermal and environmental testing procedures
  • Ability to work with psychrometric charts for temperature/humidity testing

Nice-to-Haves
  • Experience with Linux command line operations
  • Background in embedded firmware development
  • Familiarity with photometric analysis techniques
  • Experience in signage or display technology industries
  • Knowledge of salt fog testing and other environmental test chambers
  • Previous work in manufacturing or product validation environments

Education
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related engineering discipline required.
