Position: DBA Mainframe with IMS Background

Location: Wilmington, DE (Weekly 5 days office is must)

Duration: Contract

Job Description:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a DBA working with IBM DB2 and IMS on z/OS.
  • Strong experience with tools such as DB2 Utilities (REORG, LOAD, RUNSTATS, COPY), IMS utilities, and Tivoli OMEGAMON.
  • Proficiency in JCL, TSO/ISPF, and other z/OS mainframe tools.
  • Solid understanding of relational database theory, storage structures, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning, data replication, and high availability strategies.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
  • Administer and maintain DB2 for z/OS and IMS (DB/DC) databases to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and patch DB2 and IMS environments.
  • Perform database design, physical data modeling, and schema management for new and existing applications.
  • Monitor and tune database performance; proactively resolve issues related to memory, locking, and storage.
  • Perform backups, restores, and recovery using IBM utilities and job control language (JCL).
  • Ensure data integrity, enforce standards, and apply security controls in accordance with compliance and governance requirements.
  • Support development teams with SQL optimization, application deployment, and problem resolution.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of database configurations, procedures, and runbooks.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide 24x7 support for production database environments as needed.
  • Collaborate with system programmers, storage administrators, and application developers on cross-functional projects
