Overview
BigBear.ai | A higher form of decision intelligence. is seeking a Senior Principal DevOps Engineer to join our DIA Support team. The candidate will work closely with the development team and our customers in the DoD and IC. The position will be on-site in Herndon, VA.

Candidate will work with a government-provided CI/CD build and deploy pipeline designed for container orchestration solutions using the OpenShift Container Platform (OCP). The candidate will integrate a variety of software components in a secure container architecture working with cross functional teams to debug critical issues. Candidate will also support the migration of containerized workflows from platforms such as Docker Swarm, Kubernetes (vanilla or managed) to OCP.

Candidate will work with a government-provided CI/CD build and deploy pipeline designed for container orchestration solutions using the OpenShift Container Platform (OCP). What you will do
- Development of CI/CD Build and Deployment Pipelines
- Write/modify Jenkins-based groovy scripts
- Write/update Terraform scripts
- Help write and maintain scripts for process improvements (ex: stage/unstage builds, branch tag automation, automating variance corrections across networks)
- Integrate tools into the pipeline
- Work with the development teams to bring in new microservices into the pipeline.
- Work through steps to automate installations of COTS of GOTS container builds into the architecture
- Debugging integration issues
- Help identify issues in the deployment
- Monitor/help develop scripts to monitor services to ensure everything is functioning as necessary
- DevOps Tool Integration
- Help integrate with various tools for the DevOps process (SonarQube, Fortify, Jenkins, Robot Framework/Selenium, Artifactory, etc...)
What you need to have
- A Bachelor's degree and 9 years of relevant experience OR a Master's degree with 7 years of relevant experience OR a PhD with 4 years of relevant experience; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement
- Experience with Linux Environments
- Experience with scripting languages, such as Bash and Python
- Experience with OCP or similar container environment
- Understanding of Kubernetes or OpenShift Container Platform
- Understanding and willingness to work in a DevSecOps oriented environment with an Infrastructure as Code mindset
- DoD IAT Level II Certification (Security + CE, CISSP, etc.)
- Active TS/SCI w/Poly
What we'd like you to have
- Basic understanding of an Object-Oriented Programming Language, such as Java
- Experience developing, deploying, monitoring, and troubleshooting software solutions
- Experience integrating Jenkins and Docker for automated CI/CD pipelines
