Network Engineer

Job Summary:
A regional organization is seeking a skilled Network Administrator to manage and secure both on-premises and hybrid cloud network environments. This role is critical to ensuring the performance, reliability, and security of the organization s networking systems. The Network Administrator will be responsible for configuring and maintaining FortiGate firewalls, Cisco and Ubiquiti network equipment, and Azure network components to support a modern, connected infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer FortiGate firewalls, Cisco switches/routers, and Ubiquiti/UniFi devices
Design, implement, and manage VLANs, routing protocols, and Layer 3 network segmentation
Maintain hybrid cloud networking, including Azure Virtual Networks (VNets), Network Security Groups (NSGs), VPN Gateways, and ExpressRoute
Monitor network health and optimize performance using standard network monitoring tools
Configure and troubleshoot VPNs, intrusion prevention/detection systems (IPS/IDS), and perimeter defenses
Support secure Wi-Fi infrastructure across multiple facilities
Participate in incident response and conduct network-related investigations
Maintain up-to-date documentation of network topologies, configurations, and changes
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; equivalent work experience may be considered
5+ years of experience as a Network Administrator or in a related networking role
Proven hands-on experience with FortiGate firewalls and Cisco networking equipment
Deep understanding of VLAN configuration, network segmentation, and routing protocols
Familiarity with Azure networking components, including VNets and NSGs
Special Requirements:
Ability to pass background checks or security clearance, if applicable
May require on-call availability for urgent network support
Valid driver s license if travel between locations is needed
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficiency with FortiGate, Cisco, and Ubiquiti/UniFi networking devices
Strong command of Layer 3 networking, subnetting, and routing
Solid knowledge of VPNs, firewall rules, IDS/IPS, and access control systems
Experience with Azure-based networking in hybrid cloud environments
Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills
Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities
Additional Desired Characteristics:
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher
Fortinet NSE Certification
Experience managing enterprise Wi-Fi networks
Familiarity with network performance and diagnostic tools
