DataStaff, Inc. is seeking a Systems Administrator for a long-term contract opportunity with one of our direct clients in Graham, NC
*This position is hybrid; 3 days will be onsite (First month is 100% onsite)

We are seeking to hire a Systems Administrator, in a mid-level IT professional responsible for managing and optimizing the organization s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and cloud environments. This role involves advanced system administration tasks such as configuring complex systems, troubleshooting performance issues, implementing security protocols, and supporting disaster recovery operations. The Systems Administrator II also provides tier-2 support for escalated technical issues, mentors junior staff, and collaborates with senior IT teams on system upgrades and infrastructure projects. With a strong understanding of both on-premises and cloud technologies, this role is critical to ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of IT systems to meet business needs.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Administers and maintains the organization s server infrastructure, including installation, configuration, and updates for both on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Monitors system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to optimize reliability, security, and efficiency.
  • Performs advanced system configurations, including network services, virtualization, storage management, and database maintenance.
  • Manages user accounts, access controls, and group policies within directory services (e.g., Active Directory).
  • Implements and maintains system security measures, including patch management, antivirus, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Collaborates with senior IT staff on infrastructure design, system upgrades, and migrations.
  • Oversees data backup and recovery operations, ensuring data integrity and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Creates and maintains detailed system documentation, including configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Provides tier-2 technical support for complex issues escalated from the helpdesk team.
  • Mentors and supports junior systems administrators and IT staff, providing guidance on best practices.
  • Stays updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to contribute to system improvements and future planning.

Education & Experience:
BS/BA in Information Systems or Computer Science or relevant field required from an accredited college or university desired. Three or more years of experience in system administration, with proficiency in managing Windows, Linux and cloud environments. Strong knowledge of virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure).
