Tesla's Supplier Industrialization team is responsible for critical component development and qualification activities at suppliers. This role will develop, qualify, scale up and optimize manufacturing and quality system procedures for Battery cell manufacturing. In this role, you will work closely with many organizations both internal and external to Tesla, taking new battery cell designs from initial concept through into full production.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for driving Industrialization and production launch readiness, line/equipment qualification using TQP (Tesla Qualification Process), and ensuring OEE and quality targets are achieved
- Guide suppliers in selecting and validating appropriate dispensing systems for thermal/structural adhesives, defining laser/tab welding process parameters, inspection criteria, and validation requirements
- Drive supplier DFM reviews, guide suppliers in efficient use of poke-yokes, best methods of assembly, testing, and gauging to ensure the product meets design requirements
- Drive critical assembly interface requirements between the supplier and Tesla factories and ensure proper quality controls are implemented at supplier assembly lines
- Perform assembly stack-up tolerance analysis and ensure assembly processes can meet design requirements
- Drive root cause analysis and validate corrective actions using Tesla SCAR system for factory and field quality issues
- Identify and drive cost reduction activities by utilizing process, material optimization, and yield improvements
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of assembly plant experience supporting battery pack, module, laser welding, 2-part adhesive dispensing, vision-based inspections, or similar processes in a Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supplier Quality Engineering, or Supplier Industrialization Engineering role
- Demonstrated experience in developing battery assembly manufacturing processes, qualifying and scaling to volume with suppliers
- Experience in a manufacturing setup handling measurement system analysis, SPC (Cp/Cpk analysis, Control Plans, FMEA, and OEE
- Ability to communicate and direct supplier activities at the management level
- Excellent teambuilding skills in dealing with suppliers, peers, and other functional areas
- Strong technical writing ability and an ability to explain complex issues in a concise and plain manner. Must be familiar with SPC and data analysis
- Ability to travel on short notice domestically and internationally, up to 25% travel may be required

$85,760 - $197,160/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
