Job Details
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SAP Senior Technical ABAP Consultant with 12+ years of hands-on experience in SAP development, integration, and support. This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality technical solutions for SAP HCM and Payroll implementations, with a strong emphasis on U.S. and Canadian payroll processes.
The consultant will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining custom applications and interfaces, collaborating closely with functional leads, integration architects, and middleware teams. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in SAP ABAP, a solid understanding of HCM/Payroll functional processes, and experience working with third-party vendors and middleware platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Design & Development
Develop custom solutions using SAP ABAP, including:
Reports, conversion programs, utility tools
Function modules, classes, user exits, customer exits
Enhancement frameworks and BADIs
Design and implement system interfaces using:
RFC, BAPI, ALE/IDOCs, file-based integrations
REST APIs, XML/JSON, and middleware platforms (SAP CPI/HCI, Boomi)
Integration & Collaboration
Collaborate with functional consultants, integration leads, and third-party vendors to gather interface requirements and define integration strategies.
Lead workshops with clients and vendors to capture business and technical requirements for interfaces and data exchanges.
Create and maintain technical design documents and interface specifications based on functional design and business needs.
Support EFT file transfer processes, ensuring secure and compliant data exchange.
Payroll Functional Alignment
Apply strong understanding of U.S. and Canadian SAP HCM and Payroll processes, including:
Gross-to-net calculations
Tax reporting and remittances
Garnishments and benefits integration
GL posting and wage type mapping
Ensure technical solutions align with payroll compliance and operational requirements.
Project Execution & Support
Lead technical workstreams in SAP HCM and Payroll implementations, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
Support testing phases (unit, SIT, UAT), troubleshoot issues, and ensure smooth cutover and post-go-live support.
Essential Skills & Experience
Minimum 12+ years of experience in SAP ABAP development, with a strong focus on HCM and Payroll integrations.
Proven expertise in:
Interface development using RFC, BAPI, ALE/IDOCs
Enhancement techniques (user exits, BADIs, enhancement frameworks)
Middleware platforms (SAP CPI/HCI, Boomi, MuleSoft)
EFT file transfer and secure data exchange protocols
Strong understanding of U.S. and Canadian SAP Payroll functional processes.
Experience in at least 5 full lifecycle SAP implementations.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Experience with Fiori, S/4HANA, and SAP SuccessFactors.
Familiarity with Portal Applications, AJAX, JavaScript, and XML technologies.
Knowledge of SDLC methodologies, test planning, and execution.
