Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Capital Project Engineer to lead the planning, design, and execution of capital projects within our asphalt manufacturing facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process engineering, project management, and mechanical systems, with expertise in P&ID development, scope of work creation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the execution of capital projects from concept through commissioning, including plant expansions, equipment upgrades, and process improvements.

  • Develop comprehensive Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) in collaboration with process engineers and contractors.

  • Create detailed Scope of Work (SOW) documents for contractors, vendors, and internal teams.

  • Prepare and manage project budgets, schedules, and risk assessments.

  • Coordinate engineering design, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.

  • Work closely with plant operations, maintenance, and safety teams to ensure successful project integration.

  • Ensure all projects meet regulatory, environmental, and safety standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA).

  • Manage and interface with external contractors, consultants, and vendors.

  • Conduct site inspections and field verifications to ensure engineering design integrity.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in capital project execution, preferably in asphalt, chemical, oil & gas, or heavy manufacturing industries.

  • Proficient in reading and developing P&IDs, process flow diagrams (PFDs), and engineering drawings.

  • Hands-on experience creating and managing Scope of Work and project documentation.

  • Familiarity with asphalt plant equipment such as dryers, mixers, tanks, burners, and dust control systems.

  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., PMP, Six Sigma is a plus).

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Proficiency in CAD software, MS Project, and engineering document control systems.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with asphalt plant design, installation, or modernization.

  • Knowledge of control systems (PLC, SCADA) and integration.

  • Understanding of environmental regulations and emissions control systems.
