Position Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure product quality. This role involves collaboration with design and production teams, troubleshooting manufacturing issues, and utilizing Lean and Six Sigma principles to optimize operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process Development and Improvement: Design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes to enhance productivity and quality. Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Apply Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to identify and eliminate waste and variability in processes.
  • Production Support: Provide technical support to production teams to resolve manufacturing issues and ensure smooth operations. Monitor and analyze production metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions. Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment reliability and minimal downtime.
  • Quality Assurance: Work with quality assurance teams to develop and implement quality control plans. Conduct root cause analysis of defects and implement corrective and preventive actions. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Project Management: Lead and manage manufacturing projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery and within budget. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including design, procurement, and logistics, to achieve project goals. Prepare and present project updates, reports, and documentation to stakeholders.
  • Equipment and Tooling: Specify and procure manufacturing equipment and tooling. Oversee the installation and commissioning of new equipment. Develop and implement maintenance schedules for manufacturing equipment.
  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the manufacturing department. Train and mentor production staff on best practices and new technologies. Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in manufacturing technologies.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering, or related field required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience: 0-3 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer required. Experience with test equipment preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to discuss product flaws in a constructive and positive manner. Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational and analytical skills and attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency using Microsoft Office software. Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma training. Proficient in AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
Other Requirements:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, Board members, Committee members, or other outside partners.
