Location: Remote (Must pick up equipment in person)
Work Type: Contract – W2 Only
Rate: $45/hr (W2)
Duration: 01/19/2026 – 06/30/2026

80% Cloud Engineering (AWS)
20% Windows Server Administration

ABOUT THE ROLE
The DBHDS Office of Information Services & Technology (IS&T) is seeking a Cloud Engineer 2 / Server Administrator with intermediate expertise in AWS cloud engineering and strong Windows Server administration experience.
The selected candidate will design, implement, and maintain scalable cloud-native solutions on AWS, while also providing operational and administrative support in a mixed Windows Server environment (Server 2016, 2019, 2022).
This role supports enterprise applications, cloud modernization initiatives, and ongoing system reliability across cloud, hybrid, and on-prem environments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Cloud Engineering (Primary – 80%)
Design, implement, and maintain scalable AWS cloud solutions using approved enterprise toolsets.
Develop cloud-native, full-stack applications leveraging:
Front-end: React, Node.js, TypeScript
Back-end: AWS Lambda, serverless APIs
Design and manage REST APIs using AWS API Gateway.
Implement serverless and event-driven architectures using AWS Lambda and AWS DynamoDB.
Design and manage cloud networking including VPCs, subnets, routing, and security groups.
Implement AWS IAM, security best practices, and least-privilege access models.
Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
AWS CloudFormation
AWS SAM
Terraform
Optimize CI/CD pipelines using:
AWS CodeBuild
AWS CodeDeploy
AWS CodePipeline
Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting using:
AWS CloudWatch
AWS CloudTrail
Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to deliver secure, resilient cloud solutions.
Participate in research, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Windows Server Administration (Secondary – 20%)
Administer and support Windows Server environments:
Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022
Provide end-user support, vendor coordination, and issue resolution.
Perform system monitoring, patching, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
Support on-prem, cloud, and hybrid infrastructure environments.
Maintain documentation, procedures, reports, and operational runbooks.
Provide desktop and server support for users with varied technical proficiency.
Support and manage SaaS-based environments.
REQUIRED / DESIRED SKILLS (FROM CLIENT IMAGE)
Skill Requirement Experience
Windows Server Administration (2019 & 2022) Required 10 Years
AWS Cloud Platform (Intermediate proficiency) Required 5 Years
Full-stack Web Application Development (React, Node.js, TypeScript, Serverless backend) Required 5 Years
Scripting (Python, PowerShell, Node.js) Required 8 Years
Version Control, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines Required 5 Years
QUALIFICATIONS
Intermediate hands-on experience with AWS Cloud Platform.
Strong experience building full-stack web applications using:
React
Node.js
TypeScript
Experience developing serverless back-end APIs using AWS Lambda and NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB).
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Node.js, and PowerShell.
Solid understanding of Git, DevOps methodologies, and CI/CD pipelines.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
Strong interest in learning new technologies and staying current with industry trends.
ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS
Experience in on-prem, cloud, and hybrid infrastructure environments.
Knowledge of enterprise security, compliance, and operational stability.
AWS Certifications preferred:
AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate
AWS Certified Developer – Associate
Microsoft Server / Infrastructure certifications preferred.
