JOB SUMMARY:
The Commodity Manager is responsible for sourcing and procurement strategies related to electronic components and products through the proper channels for the purpose of securing supply, cash flow and pricing. This individual will manage Distribution and Manufacturer relationships, negotiate favorable terms, and ensure the timely delivery of components to meet production schedules.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build and manage strong relationships with electronic component manufacturers and distributors.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies to ensure supply availability, competitive pricing, and favorable terms.
- Act as a liaison between internal design teams and external suppliers to align technical and commercial goals.
- Maintain and audit the Approved Vendor List (AVL) with supplier capabilities and compliance data.
- Negotiate contracts and payment terms to support profitability and cash flow objectives.
- Monitor market trends and pricing to inform procurement decisions and cost modeling.
- Collaborate with business units to align supplier strategies with customer needs and quoting processes.
- Ensure timely delivery of components and optimize inventory through SMI/JIT programs.
- Track KPIs, conduct cost reduction initiatives, and adjust strategies based on competitor activity.
- Ensure supplier compliance with quality standards and support cross-functional initiatives including financial reviews and customer QBRs.
- Travel-25% of the time or as required.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- College education or equivalent relevant experience.
- 5-10 years of experience in electronics procurement, preferably with a focus on negotiations and relationships with Components manufacturers and Large Distributors.
- Strong understanding of electronics components, devices, and industry trends.
- Proven ability to negotiate with manufacturers and suppliers to achieve cost savings and favorable contract terms.
- Ability to analyze market data, pricing trends, and supplier performance to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively manage relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to troubleshoot supply chain issues and adapt to changing market conditions.
- Familiarity with procurement software, ERP systems, advanced Excel skills.
