About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled and self-sufficient Field Service Technician to support our backup power systems across the Houston area. This role is ideal for someone with a strong mechanical and electrical background, particularly in diesel-fired generators and Cummins equipment. You'll be the face of our reliability team, ensuring our systems are always ready when our customers need them most.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance and break/fix repairs on diesel and gaseous-fueled generators (primarily 500 kW Cummins units).
  • Troubleshoot and repair generator systems, including:
    • Deep Sea Controllers
    • Generac Gen Link monitoring systems
    • Switchgear, relays, and PLCs
  • Conduct monthly site inspections, fuel testing, and SPCC compliance checks.
  • Respond to emergency outages and monitoring alarms outside regular hours.
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
  • Supervise third-party contractors and ensure safety compliance.
  • Represent the company professionally in all customer interactions.
What You'll Need

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of experience in power generation, marine engineering, or industrial electrical/mechanical systems
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel across the Houston area

Technical Skills:
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines
  • Electrical troubleshooting (AC/DC systems, ladder logic, SEL relays)
  • Familiarity with Cummins generators and paralleling switchgear
  • Ability to read schematics and relay settings

Soft Skills:
  • Self-starter with strong situational awareness
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Safety-first mindset and professional appearance
