Role: SWIFT Payment Business Analyst

Job Description:

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient SWIFT Payment Business Analyst to join our banking technology team. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in international payments and financial messaging standards, particularly SWIFT MT and ISO 20022. You will act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams to analyze, document, and implement payment solutions that meet evolving regulatory and business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements related to cross-border payments, SWIFT messages, and interbank settlement processes.
  • Interpret and apply knowledge of SWIFT MT (MT103, MT202, etc.) and ISO 20022 (pain, pacs, camt) messaging standards.
  • Coordinate with product owners, developers, QA, and compliance teams to ensure alignment on solution design and delivery.
  • Lead or contribute to initiatives such as SWIFT ISO 20022 migration, FIN message modernization, or new payment product rollouts.
  • Define functional specifications, use cases, and user stories for payment flows and messaging interfaces.
  • Support SIT/UAT testing by preparing test plans, validating payment message formats, and triaging issues.
  • Analyze message logs, SWIFT interface behavior, and transaction data to support root cause analysis.
  • Assist with regulatory compliance (e.g., FATF, AML screening, CBPR+) and market infrastructure integration (e.g., TARGET2, CHAPS, FEDWIRE).
  • Serve as SME for SWIFTNet, SWIFT Alliance Access/Cloud, and related payment technologies.
  • Monitor industry developments (e.g., SWIFT releases, CLS, RTP) and recommend enhancements to payment systems.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in finance, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 4 8 years of business analysis experience in banking or fintech, with a focus on payments.
  • Strong knowledge of SWIFT MT and ISO 20022 message structures and flows.
  • Experience working with SWIFT interfaces, message gateways, or core banking/payment engines.
  • Proficiency in drafting BRDs, FSDs, sequence diagrams, and message specifications.
  • Familiarity with AML, KYC, and sanctions screening practices in payment flows.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Experience using tools like JIRA, Confluence, Visio, or Postman for collaboration and testing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with global payment systems like SEPA, CHIPS, CHAPS, Fedwire, or RTP.
  • Knowledge of SWIFT Alliance Access, SWIFT Cloud Connector, or similar middleware.
  • CBAP, BCS Business Analysis, or equivalent certification.
  • Exposure to agile methodologies or SAFe practices.
