Job Description:
We are currently seeking an experienced Java Architect to join our client s team in Albany, NY. This is a long-term contract role supporting mission-critical systems for the New York State Office of the State Comptroller (OSC).
As a Java Architect, you will work under the guidance of OSC s Bureau of Contracts (BOC) and the Chief Information Officer (CIO) to design, develop, and support enterprise applications that meet high standards for performance, security, and maintainability.
Responsibilities:
Design GUI and system architecture following CIO standards and Java frameworks
Develop, test, and deploy high-quality Java J2SE/EE code in a WebSphere environment
Conduct system analysis and performance enhancements
Lead application code reviews and implement reusable services
Develop and maintain deployment scripts and technical documentation
Collaborate with system users and business analysts to refine requirements
Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance
Ensure adherence to secure coding standards and participate in application security testing
Integrate FileNet, SOAP-based services, and other external systems
Support data analytics and reporting efforts
Minimum Qualifications:
5+ years of Java J2SE/EE development in a WebSphere environment
5+ years as a software/solutions architect for Java-based WebSphere systems
5+ years working with Agile methodologies
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years with Apache Wicket in production
1+ year experience with Angular
3+ years integrating FileNet using Java
2+ years implementing SOAP web services with Apache CXF or JAX-WS
5+ years of combined Spring and Hibernate experience
5+ years mentoring junior developers
5+ years of Apache Struts experience
Experience using GitLab for source control and deployments
