Our client is seeking a highly skilled Battery Thermal Engineer to join their Battery Product Development team. This group drives innovation in next-generation battery systems designing high-energy, high-reliability embedded battery modules across multiple product lines.
In this role, you ll be embedded with the Product Design organization from day one, shaping early-stage concepts, providing CAE-driven design guidance, and delivering sophisticated thermal and multi-physics simulations. This is a high-impact opportunity to influence the architecture and performance of industry-leading consumer hardware.
Responsibilities:
Develop state-of-the-art thermal and multi-physics FE models for cell, pack, and BMS subsystems.
Provide design and trade-off guidance to Product Design teams through early-stage simulation.
Build models to convert power maps into thermal outputs.
Perform advanced thermal CAE simulations to understand boundary conditions.
Support design evolution with cross-functional teams.
Partner with design teams to clarify goals and CAE scope.
Use industry-leading solvers to generate accurate simulation results.
Collaborate with test labs to develop physical test methods and gather validation data.
Work with system teams to develop detailed sub-models.
Create optimized workflows and reusable templates for thermal FEA.
Develop and implement best practices.
Collaborate with vendors to improve CAE functionality.
Explore new analysis types, including topology optimization.
Requirements:
PhD + 3 years industry experience required.
Strong background in thermal simulations within Mech/Electrical Engineering.
Experience in transient thermal simulations.
Background in electronic heating/cooling and CFD.
Familiarity with multi-physics coupled modeling.
Expertise in Ansys Electronic Desktop (HFSS, IcePak).
Experience with NX, Comsol, Cadence.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with OptiSlang, iSight
Experience with Allegro and electronics layout
Familiarity with Li-ion cells and battery packs
Experience leading technical development roadmaps
Project team leadership background
Python or scripting experience
Location: Cupertino, CA
Duration: 1 year with the possibility of extension
Salary Range: $60-$68
