The Quality Engineer III applies advanced quality planning, evaluation, and control principles to support manufacturing, distribution, and installation operations. This role partners closely with customers, third-party logistics (3PL) providers, and internal teams to drive corrective actions, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction.

Job Summary
The Quality Engineer III applies advanced quality planning, evaluation, and control principles to support manufacturing, distribution, and installation operations. This role partners closely with customers, third-party logistics (3PL) providers, and internal teams to drive corrective actions, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers and freight forwarders regarding quality issues.
- Track, analyze, and publish DPMO (Defects Per Million Opportunities) metrics related to shipping accuracy and quality defects.
- Manage and report on the Customer Quality Scorecard for the distribution center.
- Drive accountability with 3PL partners by leading problem-solving efforts and corrective actions for repeat or high-risk quality issues.
- Collaborate with 3PL partners on continuous improvement initiatives to reduce customer-facing quality defects.
- Coordinate resolution and containment activities between Central Customer Quality, onsite Cummins teams, and 3PL partners.
- Partner with supplier quality teams to address supplier-related quality issues reported by customers.
- Lead containment and corrective action activities.
- Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defect risk and improve product and process quality.
- Ensure products and processes meet established quality standards throughout development and production.
- Identify quality issues, prioritize actions, and lead or participate in Six Sigma and other improvement projects.
- Support change management activities by verifying products and processes, developing key performance measures, analyzing data, and presenting results to site leadership.
- Lead process and quality system audits.
- Serve as a technical quality resource to cross-functional teams.
- Coach and mentor quality analysts as needed.

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Supply Chain (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality within a manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, or supply chain environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with frequent email and phone interaction with suppliers and vendors.
- Experience working cross-functionally with operations, suppliers, and external partners.
