Job Description:

  • Under direct supervision, the Service Technician II performs manual and maintenance tasks as well as minor repairs of equipment in a safe and professional manner.

Essential Duties:

Perform in a safe manner, maintenance, preventive maintenance and repair of a variety rental equipment and tools involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems:

  • Perform routine repairs on equipment with some supervision
  • Perform major repairs under direct supervision of higher level service technicians
  • Recognize and communicate the need for tools, parts, and inventory

Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily/job basis:

  • Record preventative and ready inspection completion in Rentalman system
  • Document parts and labor accurately within Rentalman

Pick up and delivery of equipment and parts to and from outside vendors and other Client, Inc. locations for purchase and/or repair:

  • Checkout, familiarize, and demonstrate a wider array of more complex equipment for customers

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Manufacturer sponsored training a plus
  • Trade school training preferred
  • Active applicable state class driver's license

Experience:

  • 1-2 years of experience repairing/maintaining vehicles and equipment; or trade school graduate.

Other Skills Required:

  • Must own tools applicable to position
  • Demonstrated verbal and written skills
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools
  • Demonstrated teamwork and customer service skills
  • Strong knowledge of rental cycle
  • Basic knowledge of company computer systems
  • Basic understanding of schematics and diagrams
  • Basic time management skills
  • Basic knowledge of diagnostic equipment

Working Conditions:

  • Activities requiring handling and grasping with the hands when performing repairs or maintenance of equipment by utilizing hand tools, power tools, air tools, nuts, bolts, electronic controls, and other small parts.
  • Occasional use of foot/feet to operate foot pedal on equipment to test operation
  • Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs., occasional lifting up to 50 lbs., and seldom lifting up to 75 lbs.
  • Exposure to bright light, extreme temperature, loud noise, dust, gas, or fumes
  • Work in unprotected weather elements
  • Ability to wear a respirator and/or hearing protection as required
  • Ability to bend, kneel, and work with arms raised for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to walk and stand on concrete and uneven surfaces for at least 4 hours per day
  • Ability to climb over and into heavy equipment several times per day
