To be a successful ITOT Automation Specialist you will embody GBSI's core employee characteristics of being passionate about IT, taking full ownership of your work & having a growth mindset. Additionally, you will exhibit strategic vision, thoughtful engagement, strong analytical/process skills, a bias for action, and the ability to partner with senior operational leaders.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced ITOT Automation Specialist to join our Operations Automation Engineering team. In this role, you will lead and support initiatives related to plant floor automation systems, IT/OT infrastructure, and cybersecurity. This position will act as a critical liaison between automation engineering teams, IT, cybersecurity, and various vendors to ensure seamless integration, system reliability, and adherence to industry standards such as ISA/IEC 62443.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as SME for plant Shop Floor Networks, managing firewall rules and change evaluations.
- Collaborate with IT and automation stakeholders to implement infrastructure optimization initiatives.
- Oversee and track system sustainment activities using JIRA or similar project management tools.
- Support renewal and compliance of automation software licenses (e.g., Thin Manager, DeltaV).
- Coordinate onboarding and maintenance of automation servers/workstations within cybersecurity protocols.
- Manage obsolescence risk and upgrade planning for automation platforms and infrastructure.
- Facilitate project benefits documentation and system sustainment tracking.
- Collaborate with vendors to evaluate and implement new plant automation and manufacturing technologies.
- Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for automation-related incidents.
- Participate in planning and execution of major modernization projects (e.g., MODA, DeltaV upgrades).
- Ensure data integrity, system backups, and compliance with SDLC and OneCQV processes.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while engaging across multidisciplinary teams.
Technical Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in plant automation systems, including:
- Rockwell PLCs & HMIs, DeltaV, OT cybersecurity, OT data architecture.
- At least 4 years of experience with:
- Windows Hyper-V, VMware, Pi Historian, SCADA systems, system backup/data retention.
- Networking (switches, VLANs, firewalls, subnets), Windows Active Directory.
- Proficiency in:
- JIRA, Confluence, Power Projects.
- Automation platforms: TopView, Thin Manager, Commvault, Dynatrace.
- Strong grasp of IT/OT convergence, including change management and cybersecurity requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Automation, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Master s degree preferred.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks/projects effectively.
- Experience with SDLC and regulated environments (e.g., GMP).
