Description:
Engineer ensures defense components meet precise measurement standards by implementing and managing metrology systems, analyzing data, calibrating measurement equipment, and performing quality control inspections, often leveraging statistical methods like and to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and compliance of critical defense parts and subsystems. This role involves a strong understanding of precision measurement tools, regulatory standards like /, and collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams to drive continuous improvement and product quality.
Key Responsibilities
Measurement & Quality Assurance:
Perform precise dimensional measurements of components and subsystems, ensuring they meet specifications and standards.
Equipment Calibration & Maintenance:
Calibrate, validate, and maintain metrology equipment and instruments to guarantee consistent and accurate measurements.
Process Improvement:
Implement and manage quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100), and drive continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies like Lean and Six Sigma.
Data Analysis:
Apply statistical methods (SPC) to analyze measurement data, identify trends, and resolve issues to improve manufacturing consistency.
Documentation:
Develop and maintain process documentation, standards, and detailed records of calibration, validation, and maintenance activities.
Collaboration:
Work with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Manufacturing, Production) to integrate quality requirements into product design and production.
Troubleshooting:
Address and resolve measurement-related issues and deviations from process standards in a timely manner.
