The Project Manager will lead a cross-functional project team, driving meaningful change, and ensuring the delivery of high-impact digital services to the State of Connecticut. The Project Manager will develop and manage project plans, establish effective project governance, manage vendors, facilitate meetings and agile ceremonies, provide regular status reports, identify and manage risks, and act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders.
Experiences Required for This Role
Project Planning & Management At least 5 years of experience and use cases with the following:
Defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables
Creating project plans, schedules, and timelines
Organizing and facilitating internal and external meetings
Preparing and distributing progress reports
Communicating plan deviations and implementing corrective actions
Establishing and managing a well-defined project management process
Championing continuous process improvement
Risk/Issue Management & Mitigation At least 5 years of experience and use cases with the following:
Identifying, tracking, and comprehensively documenting project risks and issues
Assessing potential impact of identified risks and issues
Developing and implementing effective mitigation strategies
Proactively addressing risks to minimize disruptions and maintain progress
- Ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
Team Management & Team Building At least 5 years of experience and use cases with the following:
Fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment
Holding teams accountable for commitments and ensuring alignment with project objectives
Removing roadblocks and impediments that hinder team progress
Leveraging organizational resources to improve team and individual capacity for project work
Managing vendor relationships and coordinating activities of third-party resources effectively
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability
Project Management
- Extensive experience in varying project management methodologies, including the ability to manage projects using Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid, Scrum, or Kanban as appropriate
- Expert in PPM (Project and Portfolio Management) tools such as Monday.com
- Expert in Microsoft Office Suite and diagramming tools such as Miro or Visio
- Proficiency in software development tools such as JIRA and Confluence
- Ability to translate technical and design tasks into project plans, and effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Ability to successfully manage multiple projects concurrently
