General Description:
The ServiceNow Engineering Manager will oversee the strategic development and operational excellence of the ServiceNow platform, driving forward innovative engineering initiatives. This leadership role combines expertise in software architecture, Agile/DevOps practices, and platform optimization. Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Technical Leadership:
- Develop and implement the technical roadmap for ServiceNow, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and business objectives.
- Explore emerging technologies (e.g., AI/ML, automation) and integrate them into the ServiceNow environment.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to advocate for engineering best practices and platform innovation.
- Support change management processes across IT teams to ensure seamless integration and minimal disruption.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of ServiceNow developers, architects, and engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Oversee code quality, architectural design reviews, and adherence to secure, maintainable solutions.
- Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent.
- Establish Agile frameworks tailored for ServiceNow development, focusing on rapid prototyping, iterative design, and continuous integration.
- Implement lightweight and efficient sprint methodologies to maximize productivity within the ServiceNow ecosystem.
- Design DevOps strategies, including version control, incremental deployments, and regression testing for ServiceNow.
- Monitor delivery metrics to assess system performance and team productivity.
- Design and approve ServiceNow solutions with an API-first approach to support flexible, modular integrations.
- Conduct architecture reviews prioritizing microservices design principles, scalability, performance optimization, and integration patterns.
- Develop reusable ServiceNow components for cross-functional use across business units.
- Enforce API design standards to ensure consistency, efficiency, and minimal system coupling.
- Ensure platform reliability through proactive monitoring, incident management, and disaster recovery planning.
- Manage upgrades, patches, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Optimize resource allocation and platform costs while maintaining SLAs.
- Act as a liaison between technical teams, product owners, and business stakeholders to prioritize initiatives and deliver impactful outcomes.
- Promote ServiceNow capabilities to drive adoption across departments such as Operations and Retail.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for ServiceNow and CI/CD tooling providers.
- Maintain knowledge of state and federal compliance laws, including regulations relevant to platform operations.
- Advocate and ensure adherence to governance and operational standards within the ServiceNow domain.
- Create a positive and engaging work culture by promoting professional development, coaching team members for growth, and fostering strong morale.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Preferred certifications: ServiceNow Certified Application Developer or Implementation Specialist, Scrum (CSM/CSPO), or DevOps certifications (e.g., AWS/Azure/GitHub).
- 10+ years in full-stack software development, with at least 5 years managing engineering teams in Agile/SDLC environments.
- 3+ years of hands-on ServiceNow architecture experience, including designing solutions for financial services or similar industries.
- Proven success in driving innovation through research and development, delivering frequent, value-focused solutions like MVPs and prototypes.
- Demonstrated ability to optimize team velocity and sprint performance metrics.
- Experience with complex data architectures in financial or regulated environments.
- Advanced expertise in ServiceNow platform architecture.
- Proficiency in API design, microservices architecture, and modular system design.
- Strong scripting skills in JavaScript, GlideScript, and workflow automation within ServiceNow.
- Skilled in integration design using ServiceNow IntegrationHub.
- Experience with performance optimization techniques and scalable platform solutions.
- Exceptional leadership abilities with a focus on team management and motivation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of translating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to drive innovation and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
