Position: Wi-Fi QA Engineer (Telecom domain experience only)

Location: Philadelphia, PA (Onsite)

PETADATA hiring for an Wi-Fi QA Engineer (Telecom domain experience only) position for one of their clients.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and execute test plans and test cases for Wi-Fi features across various telecom devices.

  • Perform functional, regression, system, and performance testing on Wi-Fi-enabled telecom equipment (e.g., home gateways, CPEs).

  • Validate connectivity, throughput, roaming, band steering, and other Wi-Fi features (2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz if applicable).

  • Conduct testing in various network configurations including IPv4/IPv6, DHCP, NAT, and routing scenarios.

  • Analyze logs (syslogs, packet captures) to identify and troubleshoot issues.

  • Work closely with development, product, and support teams to report bugs and ensure timely resolution.

  • Automate repetitive test cases where possible using scripting (Python, Shell, etc.).

  • Document test results, issues, and recommendations in test reports and bug tracking systems (e.g., JIRA).

Required Skills:

  • 5+years of Experience with WLAN protocols (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be)

  • Expertise in security protocols (WPA2, WPA3, 802.1X)

  • Familiarity with Wi-Fi extenders, mesh, and steering protocols (802.11k, 802.11v, 802.11r)

  • Strong collaboration with Product and Development teams to define technical requirements

  • Ability to characterize Wi-Fi behavior in new products and resolve engineering challenges

  • Communication with tool development teams to optimize automation for new test features

  • Review and validate design specifications, emphasizing product architecture, testability, and verification

  • Assist in developing Quality Assurance strategies and methodologies for product testing

  • Familiarity with advanced Wi-Fi test automation frameworks and industry standards (IEEE, WFA, WBA, IETF)

  • Proactively identify and resolve product defects, driving issues to resolution.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in computer science/electronics or related field
