Oracle and Postgres DBA

Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle and PostgreSQL database systems.
Perform routine database maintenance including patching, backup/recovery, and replication.
Monitor and optimize database performance using tools like AWR, OEM, pgAdmin, etc.
Design and implement database security policies, user access, and auditing.
Automate database operations using scripts (Shell, Python, or Ansible preferred).
Manage high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies.
Work with development teams to support schema changes, query optimization, and data modeling.
Perform data migration between Oracle and PostgreSQL when required.
Maintain documentation for architecture, configurations, procedures, and policies.
Participate in on-call rotation and respond to critical incidents promptly.



Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
5+ years of DBA experience with Oracle (11g/12c/19c) and PostgreSQL (9.x/12.x/13.x).
Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and PostgreSQL procedural languages.
Experience with tools such as RMAN, Data Pump, WAL archiving, and pgBackRest.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS RDS, Azure Database, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure).
Strong understanding of performance tuning and query optimization techniques.
Solid experience in setting up replication (Oracle Data Guard, PostgreSQL Streaming Replication).
Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
Certifications like Oracle OCP or PostgreSQL Certified Engineer are desirable.
