Job Details

Summit Technologies, Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Active Directory System Engineer with advanced PowerShell scripting abilities to join our client’s team. You will perform analysis, design, implementation coordination and provide Tier-3 level support for enterprise level AD and Cloud solutions. This is a hybrid role based in Washington, DC. You must be eligible for a Public Trust clearance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) Senior Active Directory System Engineer in a large AD environment.
  • Analysis, design, testing and deployment of Active Directory, Azure AD & Domain controllers.
  • Perform Tier 3 level troubleshooting, including diagnosing complex replication and multi domain issues.
  • Develop standards, target states and roadmaps, by obtaining consensus across Architecture, Engineering, and Operations teams.
  • Independently manage and perform engineering roles for large scale Active Directory efforts and initiatives.
  • Perform various functions and duties in support of audit and compliance deliverables.
  • Develop detailed architecture, standards, design and implementation documentation.
  • Analyze current Active Directory Security Baseline deployments to identify technical and operational challenges, while making recommendations and developing solutions for system improvement.
  • Coordinate technical efforts and resolve issues across multiple teams.
  • Translate business needs into workable solutions that meet the requirements of enterprise customers and Operations teams.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Have an in-depth knowledge of Active Directory, Domain controllers, and Azure Cloud.
  • Advanced knowledge of PowerShell scripting capability with an understanding Cloud scripting.
  • Possess the ability to adapt to changing technology and apply it to the customer’s needs.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows 2019 and 2022 Member Servers and Domain Controller operating systems platforms, DNS, networks, DMZs, network security zones.
  • Expert knowledge of ADDS, ADFS, and Azure AD
  • Experience working on on-prem and cloud platforms.
  • Strong understanding and practical experience using Group Policy for Windows workstations and server management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong understanding of DNS Management.
  • Extensive knowledge of Distributed File Systems (DFS)
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Infrastructure and creating queries.
  • Strong understanding of Windows print queue management.

Desired Experience and Skills:

  • Alternative scripting and programming skills (JSON, C#, VB-Script, JavaScript, PowerShell).
  • Experience working in an Azure environment.
  • Working knowledge of Certificate/CA/PKI infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of LDAP and ability to comfortably construct queries.
  • Ability to apply ITIL v3 Foundation concepts.
  • Understanding of Third-party management and monitoring solutions (SCCM, SCOM, SolarWinds, and BigFix).
  • Microsoft MSCE and networking certifications preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of system engineering experience; Or
  • Master’s degree and 7 years of experience.
  • Will consider additional training and experience in lieu of degree.
