Our Air Traffic Systems (ATS) Systems Engineering Department has an immediate opportunity for a Principal Radar Systems Engineer to join our Air Traffic Control Primary Surveillance Radar team.

This position is a systems engineering position related to integration, optimization, test and acceptance of new and existing technologies. This position will be responsible for applying specialized knowledge and expertise in radar signal data processing and radar optimization for supporting the designs and specifications to meet specific operational requirements.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop an optimization strategy for the next generation radar product line
  • Develop a path for the incorporation of Machine Learning, AI to improve the optimization process
  • Manage and/or generate systems engineering related documentation of legacy and newly developed products (design memos, specifications, diagrams, Interface Control Documents, test requirements/plans, optimization procedures) in support of projects.
  • Perform Data analysis, including development of various analysis tools
  • Make informed technical decisions to drive project success and conduct various technical analyses to support decision making process
  • Perform trade studies and make recommendations with respect to insertion of new technologies and algorithms on our roadmap to meet required capability advances.
  • Support the planning, execution and documenting of formal qualification tests
  • Perform job analysis to estimate engineering effort required for specific tasks and projects.
  • Support other engineering staff with system engineering related technical issues.
  • Global travel to visit customer or supplier sites for short periods of times is required

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience
  • 8 or more years of experience in a systems engineering
  • 2 of more years of experience as a radar systems engineer
  • Experience with ATC Radar Secondary Surveillance systems

Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience with MBSE tools: DOORs Next Gen, Cameo Enterprise Architect, or Rational Rhapsody
  • Experience with AI/Machine Learning, Modeling and Simulation Applications, Agile/Scrum, and Atlassian Jira/Confluence
  • Experience in cost estimation and generation of government technical proposals; preparation of Basis of Estimates (BOEs)

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
