Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, Protected Communication Systems (PCS) Team is currently seeking a motivated Systems Engineering Section Manager who is ready to lead a diverse, talented, and enthusiastic team of engineering professionals on-site in Marlborough, Massachusetts. The Systems Engineering Section Manager is a senior engineer on site, responsible for the engineering integrity of the systems, equipment and product covered by the contract.

The Section Leader performs management activities and provides leadership for approximately 10-15 engineers supporting various site contracts. These activities include technical development of people, providing and identifying appropriate training for people, employee's performance reviews, setting goals, mentoring, salary planning, employee recognition and awards, benefits, Overhead and capital planning, EH&S, ethics, recruiting.

As part of Collins Mission Systems, we specialize in developing advanced communication systems, ground and flight computers, sensors, cyber and software solutions, as well as providing integration of Mission Systems. As part of the PCS Department, the Systems Engineering department supports a variety of communications systems including Secure Switching Networks, SATCOM, and networking for ground based, ship, submarine, and airborne platforms.

What You Will Do
Full-Lifecycle Systems engineering experience (or relatable) with Communication systems; Familiarity with the Systems Engineering "V" model and the Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
Develop the team through career discussions and training; Approve team timecards and Expense Statements
Experience in New Business Initiatives such as the generation of proposal Cost Volumes, Technical Volumes, or Management Volumes; Prior experience in the generation of BOEs and resource planning in anticipation of future contract awards
Liaison with departmental leaders and other program staff to ensure all systems / sub-systems are appropriately monitored and supported, with necessary changes defined and/or developed to meet user requirements
Responsibilities also include proposal support, coordinating program staffing needs and reductions, and interviewing applicants
A strong understanding of requirements flow-down, design, development, and testing of systems
Collaborate with project managers and other professionals within Engineering

Qualifications You Must Have
Experience in Engineering and project-engineering management
Experience developing and operating with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Integrated Master Schedules (IMS)
Strong problem-solving and communication skills, including ability to produce technical documentation, site-wide media / specifications and the desire to learn new technologies and tools
Prior Experience leading teams (Team Lead, IPTL, CPTL, Scrum Master, Product Owner, Program Engineer, Section Manager)
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date

Qualifications We Prefer
Program / project management experience helpful (PM, IPTL, CE)
Experience with the DOD MILSATCOM customers and mission requirements
Experience in requirements development, management and IV&V
BOE Certification or proposal experience
Experience developing systems in a team-based development environment, preferably Agile/SCRUM
Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering, digital engineering, and digital thread concepts
Proficiency in CORE and/or Design for Six Sigma

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
