Job Title: Bench Diagnostic Technician II
Location: Onsite | Allen, TX 75002
Work Schedule/Shift: Mon-Fri 6:00am – 2:30pm | Minimum 40 work hours per week.
Length of Assignment: 2-Month Contract with potential extension up to 2 Years based on performance and budget
Pay Rate: $22.00 per hour

Position Overview:
This position supports a specialized diagnostics and failure analysis team within the only North American repair and refurbishment center for a major manufacturer’s Mobile and Fixed Video DVR systems and peripheral hardware. The group is responsible for conducting advanced evaluations and root-cause analysis of malfunctioning electronic units beyond standard repair procedures. The team functions in a structured environment and collaborates directly with Engineering, Customer Service, and Quality teams to support product lifecycle continuity. Team members report to departmental leadership and are cross-trained to support multiple product lines. The selected candidate will perform high-level troubleshooting of electronic failures and generate detailed diagnostic reports outlining root causes and corrective actions. The role requires a focus on non-soldering component-level diagnostics using test stations, schematics, and circuit analysis tools. The technician will be expected to work across multiple product families and maintain accurate documentation within enterprise systems. Candidates should anticipate a fast-paced environment with changing repair requirements, requiring agility and a strong diagnostic mindset.

Required Skills/Experience/Qualifications:
- 4–7 years of diagnostics experience with analog and digital circuit boards
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electronic failures down to component level
- Experience utilizing burn-in and functional test processes
- Ability to interpret schematics, engineering drawings, and inspection reports
- Familiarity with digital electronics including microcontrollers, memory modules, FPGAs, and low-power signals
- Understanding and application of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) protocols and safe handling practices
- Experience operating diagnostic test stations and analyzing outputs for failure analysis
- Ability to trace signals and components on Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs)
- Proficiency in using SAP or similar systems for defect tracking and resolution
- Basic knowledge of networking concepts, including IP addresses, MAC IDs, and system-level connectivity
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- Strong written communication skills to document findings and technical summaries
Preferred Skills (Not Required):
- Associate degree or higher in a related technical field
- Completion of IPC 610 or J-STD soldering certification or training
- Experience preparing technical documentation or diagnostic reports for internal or external stakeholders
Day to Day/Responsibilities:
- Begin each shift by reviewing assigned work orders and prioritizing units requiring diagnostics
- Perform non-soldering diagnostics on a range of Mobile and Fixed Video DVR systems and supporting peripherals
- Use diagnostic test stations and component-level electronic test tools to identify root causes of functional failure
- Interpret schematics, engineering documents, and inspection reports to guide failure analysis
- Identify and isolate failed components or circuit anomalies in analog and digital PCBs
- Evaluate burn-in and functional test results to confirm suspected failure modes
- Collaborate with Engineering and Customer Service to provide detailed findings and support repair validation
- Document test findings and diagnostics results within SAP for internal defect tracking
- Support cross-functional processes and participate in cross-training to work across multiple product families
- Ensure compliance with ESD safety standards and proper component handling throughout testing
- Participate in feedback sessions to refine diagnostic processes and contribute to quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain an organized workstation and follow structured documentation standards for all test procedures
- Assist with preparing final reports that recommend repair or replacement actions based on analysis
- Apply basic knowledge of network configurations, MAC addresses, and IP systems to aid in diagnostics for connected devices
- Engage with the broader technical team to share best practices and support continued performance optimization across the repair center
