Job Description
BAE Systems is offering an exciting opportunity to support an important and dynamic Department of Justice customer as a Sr Software Engineer/Developer supporting a highly capable and diverse team driving technical innovation. The successful candidate should independently be able to develop and code software solutions that provide needed capabilities in support of customer mission related activities. The Software Engineer will design, implement, and maintain Windows and/or Linux applications or systems based on customer-driven requirements for the purpose of collecting, processing, and or/or dissemination of lawfully collected data.

The Sr Software Developer will:
  • Contribute to system-level design and partitioning in order to optimize overall system performance and reliability;
  • Translate detailed design into computer software;
  • Test, debug, and refine computer software to produce the required product;
  • Prepare both program-level and user-level documentation;
  • Enhance software to reduce operating times or improve efficiency; and
  • Provide full life cycle support for software including user interaction.
  • May provide technical direction to programmers to ensure program deadlines are met.
Functional Responsibilities: Designing, maintaining, and implementing Government Off The Shelf (GOTS) software designed around a specific set of requirements or to use particular methodologies required to meet specific procedural requirements. The SD II shall design software tools that include system calls to other third-party tools and utilities specified. The SD II shall design, maintain, and implement original software applications from a high level, non-specific set of concepts provided by the government. SD II shall develop software, and application of large and complex software and systems, and web-based query and reporting systems.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Required Experience, Skill, and Education:
Minimum Education: Four (4) year college degree in software development or computer science, and five (5) years' experience of software development for systems in a production environment as detailed above, or in lieu of education ten (10) years of experience of software development for systems in a production environment. If utilizing in lieu of education, all experience must be at or above the position level described above.

SME Level- This is a senior level position.
Minimum General Experience:
  • Multiple programming languages necessary to meet a diverse set of requirements. The Contractor must be familiar with a variety of scripts, programming languages, and operating systems. Examples of relevant computer programming languages currently used to design and deploy components that include, but are not limited to:
    • C# o Python o PowerShell o ASP.NET
    • Structured Query Language (SQL) o Extensible Markup Language (XML) o Web Services Description Language (WSDL) o Angular o HTML
    • JavaScript
    • Microservices Architecture
  • Identifying technical strategies to interconnect disparate software applications by authoring original software programs
  • Designing and authoring original software applications from a high level, non-specific set of concepts provided by the government
  • Writing programs that achieve a desired outcome or workflow from nothing more than observation of desired outcomes, workflows, or from vague original concepts
  • Producing specifications and design documentation including:
    • Process Flow o Class Diagrams o Sequence Diagrams o Physical Architecture o System and Web Service Interface Specifications o Data Dictionary o Data Model
  • Creating project work estimates
  • Implementing solutions and identify operational or management issues
  • Systems designing, policy development, and database development and management, and user interface development
  • Utilizing available Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) software to the maximum extent practicable in designing software applications, avoiding implementation of a proprietary system
  • Knowledge of Information Security Systems (ISS) and security standards of Sensitive But Unclassified (SBU) and classified data.
  • Knowledge of current Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002 (FISMA).

    Desired Skills and Experience:

    Back end Technology experience such as the following: - .NET Core, Entity Framework, Xunit, JUnit, ASP.NET Core, ADO.NET, Flask
    Web Client (Front end) Technology experience such as: - Angular, React, RXJS, NGRX (Store), Boostrap 5, DevExtreme, Cytoscape, Jasmine, Jest, Karma, npm

    Some Systems Engineering experience desired, not required
    Microsoft Azure and/or AWS cloud experience highly desired
    Experience working on an Agile team
    Experienced deploying container based solutions.

    Pay Information
    Full-Time Salary Range: $102200 - $173700

    Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
