We are currently seeking an experienced Emergency Communications Engineer (Specialist 2) for an assignment with a public sector technology organization. This role supports essential emergency communication services for New York City s 911 and public safety operations.
Position Details:
Title: Emergency Communications Engineer (Specialist 2)
Work Location: On-site in Brooklyn, NY
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week
Assignment Duration: 1 year
Responsibilities include:
Providing oversight of vendors supporting emergency telecommunications and infrastructure
Coordinating with 911 Originating Service Providers and Emergency Communications Centers
Deploying, configuring, and testing network infrastructure supporting emergency communication systems
Offering technical support for E911 and NG911 telephony, Text-to-911, and Unified Communications systems
Managing incident investigation, ensuring service reliability, and supporting test environments
Assisting with network racking, cabling, and equipment maintenance related to emergency services
Required Experience:
8+ years in data center or field support
4+ years in network support (LAN/WAN troubleshooting)
4+ years in telecommunications routing and delivery (Wireline, Wireless, VoIP)
Proficiency with documentation tools (Excel, Visio, Word)
Strong working knowledge of networking hardware, computing systems, and cabling standards
Ability to perform hands-on technical work and travel within the NYC area as needed
Availability for on-call and after-hours support
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or related field
Knowledge of Emergency Communication infrastructure, E911 call routing, and NG9-1-1 systems
Familiarity with DMS, ACD, ANI/ALI, SMS, RTT, GIS, and related public safety communication technologies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
