Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer to support t he Tactical Data Networks Enterprise (TDNE) program office, which is within the Aerial Networks Division (AFLCMC/HNA) and located at Hanscom AFB, MA.

The Tactical Data Networks Enterprise (TDNE) contributes to the development, delivery and deployment of the next generation aerial layer network through a portfolio of legacy and advanced waveforms and airborne network management/development efforts that advance interoperability and connectivity

LOCATION: Hanscom AFB, MA

JOB STATUS: Full time; salaried

TRAVEL: CONUS travel up to 10% may be required

SECURITY CLEARANCE: An active US security clearance is required

JOB RESPONSBILITIES:
  • Plan and conduct systems engineering, engineering analyses, trade studies and feasibility assessments in support of systems engineering activities
  • Perform program reviews to evaluate alternative proposed plans, systems engineering programs, design and test results to assure that required subsystem and system performance is achieved
  • Participate in system design and architecture development of tactical datalink communication systems
  • Prepare technical documents which define, specify, and recommend system/subsystem characteristics
  • Review and provide technical comments on tactical data link specifications and interface documents
  • Conduct technical investigations in systems design
  • Provide systems engineering and integration support services and inputs to program and project risk management activities in compliance with AF SEAM processes
  • Support Program Management Reviews (PMR), Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM), Test Meetings
  • Perform engineering drawing reviews for conformance with requirements, specifications, regulations, and quality control
  • Provide system engineering solutions based on systems analyses, advanced technology processing techniques, engineering research, and evaluation of all aspects of system engineering
  • Develop technical reports, make recommendations to Project/Program leadership.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years of experience (5 DoD), OR 15 years of directly related experience (8 DoD)
  • Knowledge of Air Force tactical data waveforms, networks, and radio systems.
  • Knowledge of defense acquisition policies outlined in DoDI 5000.02 is highly desired.
  • Ability to assimilate information quickly, communicate effectively, and remain organized in order to monitor progress toward the accomplishment of various taskings and initiatives.
  • Work proactively, with minimal supervision, and effectively communicate orally and in writing, providing quality acquisition and program documentation (briefings, documents, plans, etc.).
