Job Details

Description

Conceptualize, engineer, develop, build, and execute one dimensional (1D) Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), thermal and hydraulic models of conventional ICE passenger vehicle and Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) (passenger car, truck, and sport utility) propulsion systems including Rechargeable Energy Storage System (RESS or battery pack), Electric Drive Units (DU), Battery Disconnect Units (BDUs), busbars, and related integrated electronic components, using GT Suite tool. Develop cooling strategies for next generation battery pack designs and evaluate the thermal performance of different cell types. Perform thermal runaway propagation (TRP) analysis for different cells and pack designs to create safest product for customers. Analyze thermal and hydraulic system and component performance under different operating conditions. Predict and determine system and component pressure drops and flowrates at various locations in the coolant circuit. Compare results to the flow rate requirements of hydraulics system and RESS and validate them with testing results. Develop new and existing standards procedures for Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) propulsion systems thermal and hydraulics analysis, and translate new technologies into product applications.

Additional Description

Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering. Twelve months' experience as Engineer or related. Must also have experience developing and executing one dimensional (1D) Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models of passenger vehicle propulsion or powertrain systems, using GT Suite tool.
